Our office assisted with securing a planning permit for a café located within a residential street.
The site had historically been used for non-residential purposes, including as a takeaway food premises, which led our client to believe it could be converted to a dine-in café without further planning approval.
Our team provided clear strategic advice and prepared a strong supporting town planning report to demonstrate that the proposed café — including a variation to carparking requirements — was an appropriate and well-considered outcome for the site. As a result, Council issued the planning permit, allowing the café to operate.
Today, the café is thriving and has become a much-loved local destination and community meeting point.
