Terrain Consulting Group – A busy period of Education and Industry Engagement
July and August 2025 marked a particularly active period for the Directors of Terrain Consulting Group, Andrew Smith and Lorenzo Rigoni, as they took on the role of educating and engaging with both the development community and students across various platforms. Their efforts were focused on sharing insights into Land Surveying and the Planning industry.
On 31 July 2025, Lorenzo delivered the second lecture of the month at Melbourne Polytechnic. Speaking to a full lecture theatre of Engineering, Building Surveying, and Design students and their lecturers, he explored the important relationship between Town Planning legislation and its impact across various development professions. The high level of engagement and the insightful questions from the students were a promising reflection of the next generation of industry professionals.
Just a few days later, on 2 August 2025, Lorenzo represented Terrain Consulting Group at the Property Developer Network (Melbourne), joining a panel of industry experts in front of an audience of 60 investors and developers. Over three engaging hours, the panel — which included Rob Flux (Property Developer Network), Emma Holmes (Architect), Robert Suric (Idea Constructions), Brian Cullen (Crowd Property), and Jared Hosking (HWL Ebsworth Lawyers) — shared valuable real-world insights and experiences with an inquisitive and highly responsive audience.
On 6 August 2025, Lorenzo teamed up with John Herniman Architects and Northwind Quantity Surveyors for a presentation focused on Victoria’s new Activity Centres and statewide housing targets through to 2051. Delivered to a diverse audience of investors, developers, buyers and vendors’ agents, and property consultants, the event prompted thoughtful discussion and meaningful engagement — with attendees walking away better informed about the state’s long-term planning priorities.
Rounding out the busy fortnight, on 8 August 2025, Andrew represented Terrain Consulting Group at the 2025 Speed X Expo, hosted by the City of Manningham. The event was designed to help secondary school students explore career and study pathways. Andrew spent the day answering questions and encouraging students to consider a future in Land Surveying. The feedback from participating schools was overwhelmingly positive, with Terrain’s contribution cited as a key element in the event’s success.
